A Long Drink or “Lonkero” is the most popular alcoholic beverage in Finland. Lonkero was invented for the 1952 Helsinki summer games to provide the city with a crisp and refreshing beverage made from gin and grapefruit. In Finland, Long Drink is a category, similar to beer, and now that there are several in the US, a Long Drink category technically exists; similar to the way hard seltzer and beer is its own category.

Extremely! It’s one of the most consumed cocktails in the country since 1952. Ordering a long drink (or a Lonkero) in Finland is about as common as asking for a beer in the US.

Glad you asked – After growing up in Finland, our founder Janne moved to the sunny shores of Southern California. We wanted to keep the authentic name but change the spelling in a clever way (switching the KE to CA) to symbolize our local California US headquarters.

Loncaro is NOT a seltzer! Unlike seltzers that use malt as their alcohol, Loncaro is a REAL cocktail, made with real gin. We use premium gin, pure citrus, and real cane sugar. Not only does it have a clean and crisp taste with more complex mouthfeel, but it’s also gluten-free and contains absolutely NO artificial ingredients.

Our Loncaro is in fact Gluten Free and Vegan!

Nope! Our authentic Long Drinks are made with REAL cane sugar and pure citrus – Loncaro contains No preservatives and Nothing artificial.

Some of the larger US corporations have tried to make their own versions of “long drinks” using malt as their alcohol BUT DON’T BE FOOLED… if the beverage does not contain REAL gin then it is NOT a long drink.

Our founder, Janne Kouri suffered an accident that rendered him paralized. Janne has dedicated the past 15 years to helping those on the long road to recover by building paralysis recovery centers around the US. A portion of Loncaro’s profits will be donated to Janne’s non-profit, NextStep, to help some of the 6 million people nationwide who suffer from paralysis.
